Workspaces & switching

A Workspace is the organization you work inside — your brokerage or team container. It holds your organization's members, billing, integrations, and settings. This page explains how Workspaces work and how to move between them.

Workspace vs. Realm

This is the single most important distinction in Realm:

  • A Workspace is your organization — the brokerage or team.
  • A Realm is a single transaction — one property, one buyer or seller transaction, which belongs to exactly one Workspace.

So a Workspace contains many Realms. Don't mix the two terms.

You can belong to many Workspaces

Multi-Workspace membership is normal. You might be in your brokerage's Workspace and a separate team Workspace, for example. Each one is its own container with its own members, REALMS, and settings.

Workspaces come in flavors — Personal, Team, and Brokerage — describing how collaboration works inside them. You'll see these names in onboarding and billing.

The flavor names are just Personal, Team, and Brokerage — not "Personal Workspace" or "Brokerage Workspace." The word "Workspace" describes the container you switch between, not the plan name.

Switching Workspaces

  1. Find the current Workspace name at the top of the screen (the header).
  2. Use Switch Workspace to open the picker.
  3. Choose the Workspace you want to work in.

When you switch, Realm reloads your view into that organization — its Realms, people, leads, and settings. Your active Workspace is remembered, so you'll return to it next time you sign in.

Your identity is per-Workspace

Some of who you are is global, and some is specific to each Workspace:

  • Global — your login email and password. These are the same everywhere.
  • Per-Workspace — your display name and license number can differ from one Workspace to the next, because each organization may represent you differently.

Changing a per-Workspace detail in one Workspace doesn't change it in another, and it never touches your global login.

Gotchas

  • "My data is missing!" — Almost always you're in the wrong Workspace. Check the header and Switch Workspace before anything else.
  • No Workspace selected — If Realm doesn't know which Workspace you're in, it'll prompt you to pick one (or finish onboarding) before showing your work.
