Splitting a combined PDF
Sometimes a single scan holds several documents — a stack of disclosures, an addendum, and a contract all in one PDF. Splitting carves that combined file into the individual documents it contains, so each one becomes its own record and drops onto the right checklist requirement.
When to use it
A combined PDF is common when paperwork comes back from a signing table, a title company, or a client's scanner as one file. Rather than that one file sitting against a single requirement (or none), split it so every document is tracked, reviewable, and signable on its own.
Splitting a document
- Open the Realm's Documents area and choose **Split a combined PDF** (a broker/TC tool in the documents header).
- Pick the source PDF. Realm shows a preview so you can see the pages.
- Define each segment — a page range and a name (for example, pages 1–3 "Seller Disclosure", pages 4–5 "Lead Paint").
- Optionally assign each segment to a specific requirement on the checklist.
- Split. Each segment becomes a real document — identical to one you'd have uploaded directly, with its own version history and review state.
Realm checks every page range before it creates anything, so you never end up with a half-finished split.
What happens to the original
The combined file isn't deleted. Once the split succeeds, the original is kept as a superseded copy so the record of what came in stays intact — the individual documents are now the ones that count. Each new segment runs through EVE's classification and any compliance checks just like a fresh upload.
